Superhero Kids, an organization that was founded to specifically address quality of life issues for children and their families at the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center, will celebrate their 10th anniversary this month.
In their decade of service to the community, Superhero Kids has given more than $1,000,000 to Dell Children’s through the establishment of the Superhero Kids Endowment and other incredibly impactful gifts.
Led by Samia and John Joseph, Superhero Kids’ primary focus is emergency financial support and programming for the patients and families in the clinic. Last year, Superhero Kids contributed more than $63,000 toward patient family rent assistance and bill payment, uninsured medical equipment like ramp installations and wigs, and funeral and memorial assistance and other critical needs that fall outside the scope of medical care.
In the way of program support, Superhero Kids helps with co-pay assistance for behavioral health services and supports annual events like the CBCC patient-family holiday party, specialized summer camps, psycho-social programming and survivorship engagement.
With a mission of treating the whole family, the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center takes great care to address the child’s entire spectrum of physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs with an experienced team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, child life specialists, social workers, psychologists and dietitians. This interdisciplinary team provides an integrated approach to care for the mind, body and spirit that’s essential for helping children with chronic illnesses.
As Dell Children’s and the Blood and Cancer Center work to keep children and their families here, at home, for care, we are grateful to partners like Superhero Kids!
