In fiscal year 2018, Ascension provided nearly $2 billion in care of persons living in poverty and other community benefit programs.

Ascension Health was formed in 1999 when the Daughters of Charity united with the Sisters of St. Joseph health system. That tie initiated the largest nonprofit health system in the United States. Ascension Texas:

Ascension’s Texas Ministry Market includes Ascension Providence, based in Waco, Texas, and Ascension Seton, based in Austin, Texas. Over the last century, Ascension Texas has grown from one hospital in Austin and one in Waco to a network of 14 hospitals and more than 100 clinical locations across Central Texas, including four teaching hospitals. Ascension Texas employs over 12,000 people and is a major contributor to the Central Texas economy.

Community Care: Over the past 10 years, Ascension Texas has provided over $5.4 billion in community care. The annual average contribution is more than $548 million.
